History Timeline:
• 1800's - Started as a sandstone mine.
• 1910 - Louis Rothenheber created large rooms and raised mushrooms and fishing worms.
• 1929 - Used for dairy products.
• 1948 - Mr. & Mrs Morris laid a 208 foot concrete floor in the cave.
• 1958 - They turned it into a roller skating rink and concert venue, called it Caveland.
(Her husband soon left after the rink opened, and Sue spent the next 25 years, along with her five children and a lot of help from friends running it!)
• 1970's - Ted Nugent & The Amboy Dukes and many others played in the cave.
• 1985 - After being in business for over 25 years, Caveland ceased operation as a skating rink and concert venue in 1985 when Sue Morris retired.
• After the skating rink closed, the cave was turned into a recycling facility.
• 1997 - Al Smith received a one-year permit to operate it as a museum or tourist attraction.
• 2004 - Purchased on eBay for use as a private residence by the Sleeper family.
